Worlds Reg Open

We're happy to announce that registration for UBC Worlds 2007 is now open. To register, go to www.ubcworlds2007.com and click "registration".

Registration is open from now until October 21st with a team cap of 3 teams per institution. After October 21st registration will open on a first come first served basis until we reach our team cap of 300 teams.

If you have any problems with registration, e-mail our registration team at Norman Leach and Associates <registration@ubcworlds2007.com>. If you need to reach any other members of the organizing committee, our e-mail addresses can be found on the www.ubcworlds2007.com website.

There is a 3 team per institution cap, but there is NO adjudicator cap... send as many judges as you want. We have no plans to cap adjudicator registration, unless we start getting simply insane numbers of adjudicators.

We look forward to seeing you all in December,

Teddy and Kevin (on behalf of the entire organizing committee).

Wits Invitational 2006

e-mail from the Wits in South Africa:

The WDU promised many institutions to host a large invitational debating tournament before the end of the year. Given that societies get little opportunity to have competitive debates against other societies, we are rather eager to host this tournament and have as many teams from other institutions participate.

The tournament has been scheduled for the 23rd to the 26th of September, spanning four full days, three of which fall over the weekend or a public holiday, of debating. The tournament will be round-robin format, more relaxed than Nationals, much smaller, but with some good quality debating rounds. For all the details you can check out the live websitehttp://invitationals.onthatpoint.org.za.

We would principally like to see as many teams from other institutions as possible participate in this tournament. We have made the tournament low-cost, especially considering that many people have a long way to travel. If your institution is unable to send teams for whatever reason, we ask you to e-mail us stating your difficulty in case we are able to solve the problem or just to keep it mind for future events.

If there are any questions regarding the tournament which are not answered by the tournament web site, please feel free to contact me or any member of the organising committee.

Hope to see you all at the end of September!

Regards

Jonathan Haenen

P.s. You may notice that the site is being hosted byhttp://www.onthatpoint.org.za. The site has not been properly publicised yet, but it is the start of an SA debating wiki-a project aimed at capturing some of the most treasured stories from SA debating for eternity-and I encourage everyone to go and add tons of content to the site!
